KoPubWorld typeface licence =========================== The files below are NOT under the SIL Open Font License. They carry the Korean Publishers Association's own terms, which is why this is a separate file from OFL-LICENSE.txt — mixing non-OFL terms into a file named for the OFL is how a reader applies the wrong licence to the wrong font. Per article 3 of the licence, copyright in the KoPub and KoPubWorld Batang/Dotum typefaces is held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (http://www.mcst.go.kr) and the Korean Publishers Association (http://www.kopus.org). Why this file exists -------------------- Article 4(4) requires that anyone the font is distributed or transmitted to be shown these terms. We ship these files inside a Python wheel and inside container images, so that obligation is ours. The Dotum cut had been in this directory since the six-Korean-families change with no such notice at all. It is covered here rather than left alone: adding a second face from the same family while the first stays undocumented would be the wrong half of the job. Why our use is permitted ------------------------ Article 4(1) Free use, copying, embedding, integration and redistribution are granted. What is prohibited is commercial dealing in the typeface itself — selling the font. We do not sell it; we render captions with it into video. Article 4(2) Modified versions may not carry the 'KoPub' or 'KoPubWorld' names. We do not modify the originals. Filenames follow this project's - convention, and the `name` table inside each font is untouched, so the typeface names remain the distributor's own. Article 4(4) This file discharges that obligation. Article 5 disclaims all warranties. The licence is issued in Korean; article 6(2) states that the Korean text governs where a translation disagrees. The summary above is a reading aid, not the licence. Provenance ---------- Upstream is the Korean Publishers Association (https://www.kopus.org), which gates downloads behind site registration. The files here came from a public mirror (https://github.com/adrinerDP/font-kopubworld, `fonts/`). That the mirror carries the same distribution was checked rather than assumed: The mirror's KoPubWorld-Dotum-Medium.otf is sha256-identical to the KoPubWorldDotum-Regular.otf this repository already shipped: 073a3426827351e393ba290a59a072aecd830a5daf2e9692828ca20f3d5ff4a0 The Bold differs by 316 bytes, and the cause is a version rather than a substitution: the mirror carries 1.1.1 against our 1.1.2, with the same unique identifier (FONTRIX_KoPubWorldDotumPB) and the same typeface names. That is not a new decision here — the byte-identical Dotum above is what proves it was already the rule. KoPubWorld ships Light, Medium and Bold; Light is not vendored, because the renderer resolves only two weight buckets (400 and 700).
